Monthiversary (sort of)

I've been here for over a month! Hooray!

I don't really know what to talk about because my days seem to be an endless trend of reading and stressing.

Currently reading Beloved by Toni Morrison... have to finish it by Tuesday. Have yet to begin Part III.
Update: Part III is quite short. Excitement.

Also reading this for my science class (a science class that actually includes math that my mom had to mail my calculator for... yeah.) Needless to say, having to read parts IV and V by Wednesday makes me want to cry.
Another update: He only wants us to read Part IV for now... life is good.

And it's not like I'm procrastinating! Friday we had to have Part II and III done for a quiz. If I read any more yesterday, my brain probably would have exploded... like the Big Bang. (See, it's getting to me... did you know the Big Bang wasn't actually an explosion, but an expansion...?)

I realize these details are completely boring... but to me they are riveting! School is taking over my life! (Good thing? Bad thing? I don't know.)

Finally, here are pics of my room... ones that I've been somewhat unwilling to share. (Sorry for the wait Raina!)
Took them today. Please ignore the clutter.
Taken from somewhat every corner of the room:

The last picture is my bed... CLUTTER!

Here's a picture similar to the one I took when I first moved in. Now, the leaves are changing!

What else? I guess I'll list some Madisonian facts:

1.) No matter how cold it is outside, you will end up hot and winded by the time you walk up Bascom Hill. (Couldn't find an effective picture... it's steeper than it looks.)

2.) Everyone's really athletic. I guess that's a good thing, but it makes me feel obese.

3.) Not really a Madisonian fact, but I haven't gained any weight so far! Woooo!

4.) Okay I've given up on Madisonian facts. Now just facts about my life. My biggest joy in life now is being able to sleep. Pathetic?

5.) I kinda don't get everyone's obsession with Nutella. It's super sweet and loaded with calories. I'd rather just have like, a brownie. Yes, packed with fat and sugar but more chocolatey-ness per calorie! (Does that make any sense at all?)

6.) I miss my home friends! Wah! But I know they are having fun for the most part, and I'm glad about this. On a side note, got to see my mom and aunt last weekend. Some stress, but fun times!

7.) After much debate, I have decided to do a make-up assignment for my science class (the same one I was stressing about earlier on in the post) instead of a field trip so that I can go see OCMK perform at state! I am ridiculously excited. (OCMK = Oak Creek Marching Knights. Yes, I am proud.)

8.) I feel like I need to work on my vocabulary skills. Very rarely do good words come forth at the right time. (Especially this late at night... Wah.)

9.) If I go to bed before midnight any day of the week, some sort of miracle is happening.

Speaking of which, I have class at 8:30 tomorrow and should probably sleep.

Thanks for reading, again.

-Emma :)

  1. Haha! Loved the Nutella comemnt. I had a good friend, she was in my wedding, that lived across the hall from me freshman year and she loved Nutella...and I had never heard of it. And just now tried it this past year. I agree, go for the brownie...unless you want to jazz up a plain piece of toast with a banana...well that might be a dorm room treat ...where a brownie you can't bake in there. haha.

Everything sounds college-y. Lots of hoop jumping. Enjoy! Someday you will look back and wonder how you did it. Cracks me up how in this world we have gotten so advanced with technology and other things but the whole dorm room experience is still whack! Such a small room to survive in with a stranger.

KEep it up Emma and so fun that you are documenting some of this. It will be so fun for you to look back on!

Thinking of you often and need to get my ass to the mailbox and send you a letter or a picture you can try to figure out drawn by one of the boys. haha.

  2. Vocabulary skills! Good books! I'm jealous. No one assigns me good books to read anymore. I am going to pick up the Tyson book for bedtime reading. I like how mom/aunt time is stressful. They are stressful ladies, for sure. Probably too many questions. How's the food? Spending afternoons on the terrace? Do you have lunch free? I want to send you to the University Club for lunch sometime -- take your mom there next time. Where are you doing all this reading? Coffee shops? Lakes? Libraries?

  3. Awesome post! From your heart, way to go. Everything sounds very normal to me (should I say sorry, or hurrah? Our kids' rooms looked the same). Keep enjoying those little tidbits about Madison :-) Loved visiting you!

  4. Your room looks like that here too. Yes we are stressful - a Kelroy trait. Please
put up a picture of your roommate. Loving your blog. Would like to see where you
work too (inside). You sound happier with every blog.

  5. Thanks for posting the pictures. I love seeing your tiny living space. I'm glad to see it look so normal...or in other words...very similar to what it looked like back in my day! I never eat nutella either. I just like me some plain ol peanut butter. Why change it up? So much reading. Do have any easy classes? What science class? Yes...staying up all nite and napping when I could. Hard to keep up! Can't wait to see you. H from Bailee.
